

Joseph Tau Chang Wu, 74, of Springfield, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was born on June 8, 1938, in Taipei, Taiwan. Joseph graduated from Chung Yuan Christian University in 1962 and went on to receive a MS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1965. He married the former Cecilia Lee in 1964.
Joseph spent 27 years with the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration designing bridges until his retirement in 2003. Joseph and Cecilia have been active and longtime members of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Springfield. He enjoyed singing in the choir, exercising, traveling, and spending time with his family. He served as elder for years. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who always had a smile for everyone.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Cecilia Wu; father of three children: David (Julie) Wu, Daniel Wu and Karen (Tom) Mirabella; “A-kong” to seven grandchildren: Micah and Joshua Wu and Kylie, Josiah, AJ, Matthias and Leighton Mirabella; as well as brother to Benjamin (Susan) Wu, Julia (Andrie) Chen, Anna (John) Shen and the late Lois (Nan Lan) Yeh.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Sunday at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church.
