Of Annandale, VA passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016. Her loving husband, Claude Allen Strickland preceded her in death on September 12, 2009. June is survived by her son, Glenn Ethan Strickland; his wife, Susan Cary Strickland; and grandsons David Michael and Joseph Allen Strickland, daughter-in-law Jenny Strickland, and brother, Edwin Harris.
June began her married life at 19 during World War II in Jacksonville, FL. Following the war June and Claude ultimately made their home in Annandale VA where they raised their only son, Glenn. June was a devoted mother and homemaker. She served as a Sunday school teacher at Grace Baptist Church. She loved traveling. She was an accomplished abstract painter and metal sculptor. She was devoted to her two grandsons and will be dearly missed.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with service to take place on Monday, October 17, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. Burial to follow at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
