Kaye Toshie Groff, 89, beloved wife of Jay C. Groff, Jr., died on Monday, January 23, 2012. She was born and raised in Waimea, Kauai. She attended the University of Hawaii in Honolulu until the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. She met her husband on Kauai during WWII, and they were married on V-J Day in 1945. Kaye was an Air Force wife who actively supported her husband’s chosen profession and her family during tours in Hawaii, California, and Izmir, Turkey. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, daughter Susan McClure, son Jay Groff (wife Kendra), four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service is Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 11am at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Meet at Admin Building by 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 29940, Honolulu, Hawaii 96820-2340.
