Kenneth Harry Welty

Kenneth Harry Welty, 89, of Springfield, passed away on December 16th, 2022. His wife, Patricia Freming Welty preceded him in passing on March 17th, 2020. A service to celebrate their shared life and love will be held on January 21st, 2023 at 11 A.M. at Fairlington United Methodist Church.

Ken was born on July 16th, 1933 to Josephine Tott and Kenneth Bertram Welty in Spirit Lake, Iowa. After a childhood filled with Boy Scouts and outdoor fun with his younger brother Richard (passed 2021), Ken joined the army and was stationed in Fort Bliss, AZ. On a blind double date, he met and fell in love with his friend's date, Patricia.

Patricia was born on October 23rd, 1936 to Myrtle Coryell and Gordon Freming in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She was the oldest sibling to Linda, and her youth was filled with adventures in the Arizona desert. Patricia attended college at University of Arizona, and it was during this time she met Ken.

Patricia and Ken were married on June 22, 1958, and were happily married for 62 years before Patricia's passing in 2020. They are survived by their son David and his wife Lori, and their son Michael and his wife Susie. They also leave grandchildren Mollie (spouse Christopher), Ben (spouse Jessica), Amber (spouse Michael), Whitney (partner Patrick), and Gordon, and their great-grandchildren Julie, Lauren, Gabriel, Sage, Bodhi, and Josephine.

Throughout both of their lives, Ken and Pat filled their home with love and were devoted to their family. They leave behind beautiful memories for their family to cherish.
