Lauren Achsah Starr

Of Springfield, passed unexpectedly on February 25, 2017. Mother of her beloved Jacob and dear daughter of Pam (Bud) Spencer and Ted (Erin) Starr. Also survived by her brother Andrew, stepsister Barbara Perkins, stepbrother Steven Bueker, grandmother Joan Dunn and her Godmother Debi Ives.

Lauren received her Certificate in Clinical Data Coding in 2015 while attending Northern Virginia Community College at the Medical Campus in Springfield. As a universal blood donor, Lauren gave blood regularly. She enjoyed taking walks in local nature area, taking pictures and working on crafts for friends and family.

Lauren loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a devoted mother to her son, Jacob and loved to see him doing well in school. She had high hopes for him academically, as well as in sports.

Losing several friends to suicide over the years, Lauren was as active as possible with the Out of the Darkness Walk / American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, www.afsp.com. Lauren also supported and participated in fund raising walks for Alzheimer’s whenever possible.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Lauren’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, VA on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Guests may arrive prior to Memorial Service beginning at 10:00 am. Memorial Service is at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary. Refreshments will follow the Service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lauren’s memory to Out of the Darkness Walk / American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, www.afsp.com.
