LeRoy “Lee” Yeida, 92, of Springfield, Virginia, died peacefully on 12/10/13.
Born on April 18, 1921 in Herculaneum, MO, he was the youngest son of John and Neva Yeida. LeRoy was preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Norma Crozier and his second wife of 28 years, Mary Weber, his brothers, John Oliver and Manley Yeida and his son, Gary Yeida. Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his daughter Sharon Hite, his son Walter John, son-in-law Jerry Hite, Sr, grandson Jerry Hite, Jr, granddaughter Heather (Hite) Morris, Michelle (Yeida) Schar, Raya Yeida and 6 great grandchildren.
LeRoy received his flying license in 1942 and was a member of the U.S. Air Force. Due to a medical problem, he was forced to discontinue flying in 1947, but he remained in the Air Force for a total of 22 years. After retirement in 1964, he started his own business, refurbishing aircraft.
Burial will be at the Arlington National Cemetery at a date and time yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, family members requests donations be made to Capital Caring, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA 22042.
