

Born on January 19, 1919 in Bluefield, West Virginia, and died on September 7, 2016 in Sterling, Virginia at the age of 97. Lois grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. She is the widow of Lieutenant General Gordon T. Gould, Jr. (USAF), to whom she was married for 38 years; and widow of Colonel Edward Joseph Geldermann (USA), to whom she was married and shared the last 34 years of her life. She died peacefully in her home at Falcon's Landing in Sterling, Virginia.
Before her marriage to West Point Cadet Gordon Gould in 1941, she was Secretary to the Editor of House Beautiful Magazine. During her marriage to General Gould, she founded newsletters at Strategic Air Command in Omaha, Nebraska, and at the Air Research and Development Command in Baltimore, and served as President of the Wives Clubs at these two large commands. She twice served as President of JANGO, an inter-service junior nursing organization with chapters worldwide. She was a published poet and author, and an amateur painter.
She leaves a son, Gordon Thomas Gould, III, of McDaniel, MD; a daughter, Beverly Gould Shaw of Austin, TX; a daughter, Darcy Ailene Shoop, a son-in-law, Kenneth Charles Shoop, her only grandchild, Samantha Ailene Shoop all of Boyds, MD; and a sister, Dorothy Buswell of Palmyra, VA; and beloved stepchildren Barbara Hails, Janice Davis, Mary Ann Varville, and Jay Geldermann
A private service will be held at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery.
