

On Sunday, February 9, 2014, Louise Helena Green, 82, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, died at The Fairfax Retirement Community with her husband, Albert, at her side. She was born in Brockton, MA to the late Henry and Mary McCourt. She was preceded in death by sisters, Kathryn Jardin of Stoughton, MA and Mary Molloy of Boston, MA.
She graduated from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA in 1953, and began her travels as an Army spouse, living in South Carolina, Hawaii, Texas, Georgia, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, and Berlin, Heidelberg and Kaiserslautern, Germany. She became an avid collector of antiques and Hummel figurines during her many years living in Europe. She volunteered with her daughters’ Girl Scout troops and swim teams and served in the Eucharistic Ministry at her church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; daughter and son-in-law Trish and Steve Barrows of Candor, NY, daughter and son-in-law Pam and Bob Terry of Atlanta, GA; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Mike McMahan of Harrisonburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Debbie Green of Santa Maria, CA, daughter and son-in-law Krista and Peter Saeger of Austin, TX, and brother and sister-in-law Henry and Camilla McCourt of Brockton, MA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 9:30 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am. A reception to celebrate Louise’s life will follow at 12:30 pm at The Fairfax Retirement Community. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
