

Passed away peacefully on August 5, 2012, surrounded by her children. A native of Washington, DC, she graduated from Ohio State University and received her MBA and Juris Doctor degrees from George Washington University. For nearly 30 years, she served as an attorney at the Securities & Exchange Commission, ending her tenure in 1993 as Senior Associate Director, Division of Corporate Finance. She was the first female named as a division director at the SEC and also received the 1990 Meritorious Executive Service Award from President George H.W. Bush. She was a member of the National Adjudicatory Council of the National Association of Securities Dealers from 1998-2002 and a consultant for the Capital Markets Development Projects for the governments of The Philippines, Russia, Georgia, Bangladesh, Trinidad, Thailand and India. She also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law School. For more than ten years she was a volunteer at the Women’s Center in Vienna, Virginia. A life-long tap dancer, she was a member of The Diamonds Tap Performers. She was a loving mother of sons Patrick Beach, H. Thompson “Tommy” Beach, daughter Catherine Beach Jarboe, daughter-in-law Kerry Ard Beach and son-in-law Robert Jarboe; Loving grandmother to Ellen Lee, Jessica Nicole, Christopher Patrick, Tyler Thompson, and Nathan Donald. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Judith Beach, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Beach.
