Mary Elizabeth Kane Catalfamo

Mary was born on 29 September 1922 in Cortland, New York to William and Grace (Warner) Kane. She was raised in Marathon, New York where she graduated from Marathon Central High School in 1940. After graduation she attended the business school in Binghamton, New York. She married Frank Catalfamo on 14 April 1951 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Marathon.

Mary is survived by six children, Mark Catalfamo, Mary Jane Kitchings (Billy), Peter Catalfamo, Paul Catalfamo (Nancy), Rose Marie Owens (Daniel), John Catalfamo (Terry), eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great, great children and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Frank Catalfamo, her parents, William and Grace (Warner) Kane, and two sisters, Margaret (Kane) Carman and Kathryn (Kane) VanVranken.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of two Greenspring Village funds: The Benevolent Care Fund or the Staff Appreciation Fund.

The Benevolent Care Fund provides resources to Greenspring residents who planned well for their retirement, wisely managed their investments but find themselves facing unforeseen life circumstances without the financial resources upon which they can depend. Greenspring is a 501(c)(3) organization, and gifts to the Benevolent Care Fund are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Staff Appreciation Fund provides the staff with a ‘thank you’ for the excellent care given to residents. The Staff Appreciation Fund is not tax deductible. It is more like a “tip” fund for the Hourly Staff.

Checks should be made payable to “Greenspring Village” and mailed to Philanthropy Office, 7410 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA 22150. Please indicate in the memo section of the check in whose memory the donation is being made.
