

Mike was born June 25th,1975 in Houston, Texas, to Michael Fitzgerald III and the late Marcia Hanna Fitzgerald. He was raised in Katy, TX, and attended Taylor High School and the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Texas Tech University (2002), a Master of Science in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (2007), and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the National Defense University’s College of International Security Affairs (2014).
Mike proudly served in the United States Army Engineer Corps from May 2002 until his honorable retirement in October 2022. A veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, he lived a life of courage, dedication, and service.

Outside of military life, Mike was a dedicated husband, father, and community leader. He served as a Den Leader for Fort Belvoir Pack 118 with Scouting America, mentoring youth and modeling the values he held dear.
Mike is survived by his wife, Julie (Kane) Fitzgerald; their three beloved children, Michael Fitzgerald V, Faith Fitzgerald, and Hope Fitzgerald; his father, Michael Fitzgerald III; and his brother, Matt Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia Fitzgerald.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025 from 10:30am-11:30am followed by a reception from 11:30am-1:30pm. at Demaine Funeral Home. Following the reception a funeral service with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00pm. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, Virginia.
