Of Springfield, VA, devoted and loving husband of Lugean Hudock, died September 5, 2016 after a long illness with diabetes and congestive heart failure.
Lt. Col. Hudock was born on December 19, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey to parents Margaret and Michael Hudock, and remained their only child. He was raised in New York City in the neighborhood of Stuyvesant, where he graduated from Stuyvesant High School. He was a member the Manhattan Square Boy’s Club and the Boy Scouts of America.
Michael attended City College of New York before enlisting in the the United States Air Force (USAF) in August 1951. During his time in service, Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. His assignments included overseas tours in Southeast Asia and Germany before returning to the states for his final tour at The Pentagon. He retired from the USAF in 1974, after 23 years of active duty service.
Upon retirement, Lt. Col. Hudock worked for RCA in the Government Communication Systems and Aerospace and Defense Group/Communications and Information Systems Division, the SIGINT Division of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and General Electric from which he retired in 1992.
Though often quiet about his professional successes, he’d never hesitate to say the greatest success of his life was getting Lugean Thurston, mother of two girls (Linda and Debbie), from Ogden, Utah, to marry him. The two met while Michael was stationed at Hill AFB. They eloped on Thanksgiving Day, 1955 and wed in Evanston, WY. Lugean and Michael had three children together – a son, John, who passed away one day after his birth; and two beautiful daughters, Cathy and Patty.
In 1964, the family settled in Northern Virginia where Lugean lives today. Lt. Col. Michael Hudock is survived by his wife, Lugean; his four daughters, Linda Hudock, Debbie Houseworth, Cathy Hudock, and Patty Hudock; and his two grandchildren, Alli Houseworth and Michael Houseworth.
Friends and family are invited to attend a service celebrating his life at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151, on Monday, September 12 at 5:30. A private military burial service will take place at Fairfax Memorial Park.
