Of Annandale, on June 22 at the age of 68. Beloved wife of the late Saint Elmo Kerns, Jr.; caring mother of Andrew (Mia) Kerns, Darren Kerns, Brian (Lisa) Kerns, and Christina (Paul) Colangelo; dear grandmother to 11; sister of Margaret Clifford, Jimmy Colangelo, John David Colangelo, Rose Fiorello, Rita Ginter-Petrowicz, Jane Selby, Stephen Colangelo, and the late Joe Colangelo, Clara Gorham, and Janet Canane; sister-in-law of Delores (Ronnie) Highnote and Patsy (Vernon) Smith. Milly was a devoted special education teacher for both Fairfax and Falls Church High Schools for many years. She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and spent her most enjoyable time with her grandchildren. Friends may call at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, on Tuesday, June 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and Wednesday, June 26 from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Thursday, June 27 at 11 am. Interment Ivy Hill Cemetery, Alexandria. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Milly’s memory to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
