Patti was born on October 3, 1957 to Robert and Marion (Boudreau) Baldassano, joining her two older siblings, Robert “Bobby” and Joanne.
She spent her childhood and early adulthood on Staten Island, NY. She became a sister-in-law when her brother Bobby married Susan Pettitt and an aunt when their daughters were born.
When her mother retired to sunny Florida, Patti moved with her. There she played cards and went bowling with her mom and their friends, and she enjoyed the freedom of driving for the first time. While in Florida, she celebrated becoming an aunt “again” with the birth of her niece’s daughter and son.
After more than 20 years in Florida, Patti moved with her Mom to Virginia to be closer to family. They shared an apartment in Alexandria where they celebrated the birth of another great-niece and nephew, and Patti discovered a passion for mahjong.
She enjoyed several years in the shared apartment until a fall in her home proved catastrophic. Unable to walk, she spent the last few years of her life in a long-term care facility.
Considering her years at the facility, her family is very grateful for the friendships she enjoyed with staff members, the friends who called to check on her, the visitors who brightened her days, and the friends who faithfully sent her cards and care packages.
She was great at remembering important dates and occasions. She would frequently come up with her own special nicknames for family members. She had a beautiful singing voice, and she loved to laugh. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her mother Marion Baldassano, brother Robert (Susan) Baldassano, nieces Debbie (Tim) Gaydos and Kat (James) McClarty, their children: Rebecca and Mark, Abby and Zach, the Pettitt and Molina families, and many other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 5pm - 8pm, including a memorial service* at about 6:30pm, on Friday, July 25 at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield VA.
*Patti's mother passed away on July 16, so we will honor and remember both Patti and Marion during this memorial service.
