
The only son of William Bernard and Margaret Shaughnessy Quinn, Dr. Quinn was born in Utica, NY on February 11, 1931. He graduated from the Christian Brothers Academy-St. Francis de Sales High School in Utica, NY and enrolled in and graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN. A veteran of the Korean War, he attended Georgetown University Dental School after his military service, graduating with honors in 1960. He taught at Georgetown University Dental School for over 25 years, attaining the rank of associate professor as well as maintaining a private dental practice in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County, VA for 34 years. Georgetown University awarded him their “Vicennallium” Medal for his service to their dental school.
He leaves his best friend and loving wife, Rita Spaulding Quinn of 66 years, four daughters; Catherine Johnson of Alexandria, VA; Marguerite Zappa (John) of Chicago, IL; Patricia Murnane (Don) of Chatham, NJ; and Irene Winston (Marvin) of Springfield, VA; and his grandchildren, whom he was very fond of: Kelly Allman (Dave) of Annadale, VA; Anna Zappa, Tilden Winston, and Madeleine Winston, plus a great granddaughter Abigail Allman. Dr. Quinn was a life member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Society, and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. He was a Fellow of the Virginia Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry, a member of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics, and the International College of Dentists, and attended the Institute of Advanced Dental Studies & Aesthetics, at the Pankey Institute.
He was a member of Saint Raymond of Penafort Roman Catholic Church in Springfield, VA where friends may gather on Friday, December 30 beginning at 10 am and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am.
