Permelia Bayol Eggerton, 94, of Springfield, VA, passed away on 29 November, 2022 at her home in Springfield, VA.
Permelia was born in Alexandria, VA to Edgar Sansom Bayol and Mary Lee Spilman Bayol on 42 August 1928. She was a graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts, and married Albert Sidney Eggerton, Jr. in November of 1951 in Alexandria, VA. She worked briefly as a receptionist for a local Allergy specialist in Alexandria before moving to Springfield to start a family. She sang as a lead Soprano in the Norman Scribner’s Choral Arts Society of Washington, DC, for almost two decades, contemporaneously became a fossil preparator for the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. While with the Smithsonian, she was recognized for her innovative educational presentations on dinosaur evolution for children’s groups. She was loved by many and admired by all.
Permelia is preceded in death by her husband Albert, her daughter-in-law Ellen Eggerton, and her granddaughter Pamela Eggerton.
Permelia is survived by sons Albert and John, grandchildren Amelia, Virginia, and Patricia, and grandchild Wesley.
