
Ruth was born in Koblenz, Germany on December 24, 1932. She had her daughter Barbara in 1961 and a second daughter, Lisa, in 1964. Ruth gained a son-in-law, Tim Jones, September 17, 1983 and in 1986, her only granddaughter, Ashley was born.
Ruth worked for the National Geographic and the World Bank for a number of years, and spent the latter part of her life caring for others. Living primarily in Alexandria, Lynchburg and Bedford, VA, and was able to fulfill her goal of living by the beach and spent time in her beloved Lewes, Delaware.
She made friends everywhere she went, found the best hole in the wall spots, and collected the best trinkets while she traveled. Ruth will be remembered for her sharp humor, her empathy, her love of reading and antiquing, keeping on top of all the news, in the US and international, watching her beloved PBS mystery shows, and her fantastic German potato salad.
Ruth’s wish was to donate her body to science and because of the Virginia State Anatomical Program she was able to do just that.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa, mother, Antoinette “Tony” Huwe, brother Klaus Huwe, and father, Arthur Huwe.
Ruth is survived by Barbara Jones and her husband Timothy Jones, and her granddaughter Ashley Jones.
The family of Ruth wishes to give sincere thanks to Dr. Charles Gardner, Nancy Nollan, and nurses that Ruth lovingly called “her girls” at Capital Caring Health Adler Center for Caring on the Van Metre Campus.
She will be missed tremendously and her legacy will forever be remembered as a kind, generous, and selfless mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend.
