She graduated from high school in Bowie, Maryland in 1973, completed training as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Anne Arundel General Hospital in 1974 and served as a nurse at the hospital until she married Michael J. Cregge on June 3, 1976, the day after his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Sandra and Michael lived in a variety of locations during Michael’s 28 year Navy career, the longest stretch being 11 straight years in Sandra’s home state of Hawaii. In each location, Sandra fulfilled nursing roles in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, public schools and as a medical consultant to a malpractice law firm. Following Michael’s retirement from the Navy in 2004, the couple took residence in Northern Virginia. Sandra continued her service as a nurse providing in-home care for challenging adult and pediatric cases.
Sandra is best known for her knowledge and skill as a nurse, her generosity of spirit, compassion for people in need and her willingness to help anybody she could.
