

Terrence L. Arndt, 89, of Springfield, Virginia passed away on February 5, 2026. Terrence (Terry) was born to Larry and Clara Arndt on December 14, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Martha Anne Turner on April 23, 1960 in Richmond, Virginia.
Throughout his life he was devoted to his faith, family and country. Terry graduated from Creighton University in 1958 where he was selected as King Creighton. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
Terry was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church where he was a favorite CCD teacher, devoted eucharistic minister and dedicated church representative to ECHO.
Terry was a hero to his siblings, his children and his grandchildren. He enjoyed fly fishing with 3 generations of extended Arndt family, where he reveled in playing cards and telling stories of his youthful Midwest adventures. He was a lifelong fan of Creighton basketball and Nebraska football. Terry loved gardening and home projects. He was devoted to his family and was happiest when spoiling his grandchildren.
During his 31 years of dedicated service to the U.S. Army Finance Corps, Brigadier General Arndt served in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star Medal and retired with a Distinguished Service Medal, The Legion of Merit Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
Terry is predeceased by his wife of 42 years Martha, his parents, his sister Judy Garner and sister-in-law Jeraldine Arndt.
Terry is survived by his children David (Sharon) Arndt of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Debra (David) Finan of Fairfax Station, Virginia; and Scott (Julie) Arndt of Kent, Washington. As the oldest of six siblings he is survived by James of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Connie (Hubert) Ullman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Thomas (Patricia) of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania; and Joan (John) of Spokane, Washington. He is survived by his eight grandchildren (Turner, Timothy, Noah, Haley, Dylan, Stephen, Grace and Teresa).
Visitation will be on Monday, February 16th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia.
Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 17th at 11:00am, Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 7600 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, Virginia. Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
