

Wallace John Martin, 91, passed away on June 29, 2013. Mr. Martin grew up in Donora, Pennsylvania and married his hometown sweetheart, Margaret M. Duda (Peggy). He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps as a young man, was later an officer in the U.S. Air Force officer. After he retired he enjoyed a second career with the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. He traveled extensively serving his beloved country and making friends in faraway places. He and Peg were longtime residents of Northern Virginia, living in Springfield, Annandale and Alexandria. They were among the original members of St. Michael Catholic Church, and later members of Holy Spirit, and of Queen of Apostles Catholic Churches. Wallace had many interests including racing homing pigeons, stamp collecting, reading, hunting, and gardening. He and Peg were the envy of the dance floor and especially liked to polka. He was a devoted, loving husband and father, and loyal friend to many. Wallace is survived by daughters, Charlotte, Barbara, and Lynn and their spouses, five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and niece, Joan and her daughter Brittany. He will be missed by his grand-dog Sydney. He took great joy in his grandchildren and extended family and was always there for them. Mr. Martin is predeceased by his wife Peg, brother Carl, and parents John and Rose Martin. He leaves us many fond memories, wonderful little songs, and many words of wisdom that will live in our hearts forever.
