On Sunday May 13, 2012, at the age of 94, he passed peacefully in his sleep at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Born in 1918, he grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. In 1939 he graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1942 and graduated from the School of Dentistry at MCV in 1947. He served as a U. S. Army dental officer from 1947 until his retirement in 1969. He then served on the faculty at the MCV School of Dentistry from 1969 until 1980. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Harrison Ormes; his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer. Interment is to immediately follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
