

William (Bill) Shadle, a highly decorated retired Army Colonel and Assistant Superintendent for Fairfax County (VA) Public Schools passed away on November 18, 2015 at the age of 93. Col. Shadle lived in Springfield, VA for 58 years and also in Fenwick Island, DE. Col. Shadle loved his career with the Army. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. In retirement, he worked with TWA on the Apollo 7-11 missions at Cape Canaveral, FL. He most fondly remembered his third career of 14 years with Fairfax County (VA) Public Schools as Assistant Superintendent of Support Services. He loved the beach, fishing, stirred martinis, and his family.
He is predeceased by his parents Maud and William J. Shadle Sr., siblings Luther, Ardell (Art), Pearl, and his first wife Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Halina, his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Dr. Joseph Sheare of Bethesda, MD & Ocean City, MD, their son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Megha Sheare of Ellicott City, MD and great granddaughter Natasha Sheare, Halina’s daughter Katarzyna Krolak and her son Michael of Springfield, VA, and great granddaughter Eva Krolak, well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Col. Shadle will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
