

Eugene P. Montgomery passed on to his reward on January 3, 2012, at the Missouri Home for Veterans. His health had been in decline for the last several months. He is survived by his wife Jean, his children Karen, Kevin and Darrel and grandchildren David Montgomery, Joseph Montgomery, Christoper Clavenna, Sean Clavenna, Samantha Montgomery and Robert Montgomery. There are also seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Howard Montgomery
Eugene's brothers, Rollin and Leo Montgomery also preceded him in death. His youngest brother Dale Saylor resides in Mendon, Mo., with his family.
Eugene graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a degree in industrial engineering. He worked at the Ford Plant, Rexall Drug Company, rounding out his career at the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
Gene and his wife Jean met at the University of Missouri in Columbia at a dance in the fall of 1950. They were married in Columbia and moved to St. Louis after graduation. They watched their home being built in Berkeley and remained there ever since.
Eugene's care in the Missouri Veteran's Home was impressive and he was surrounded by others who served in the military. Gene was a navy veteran.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday January 7, 2012, at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday January 6 at the funeral home.
