Frankie is survived by his children, Sue Wood of St. Ann, MO, Jennifer Sinks of St. John, MO, Dennis Wood (Alissa DeGonia) of St. Ann, MO, Mary Wood of St. John, MO; grandchildren, Jimi Jo, Michael, John-David, Jenna, Colton, and Kenzi; and great grandchildren, Hope, Faith, Olayah, and Micah. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, Van David and Julia Wood; his wonderful wife of 40 years, Gloria Wood (nee: Blair); and his brothers, Melvin and Bobby Wood.
Frankie proudly served his country in the US Army. After his military service, he began working for Ford Motor Company, at the Hazelwood plant, where he remained for over 36 years and retired from in 2004. He was a hard-working man who took pride in providing for his family, but once he retired he made it his job to enjoy his life. Frankie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan rarely missed the opportunity to cheer them on, whether it be at Busch Stadium or in his living room. He also loved the classic muscle cars of the 1960’s and listening to “Oldies” music from the 50’s and 60’s. Frankie was a true family man with a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life. He will genuinely be missed by all of his family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Frankie’s name to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
