

Geneva Ann Steyer passed away peacefully at 11:02 am Saturday, July 6 surrounded by family members. She was born at the parent’s farm near Willowdale, Kansas on May 8, 1927 and was one of four children born to Joseph and Gertrude Sheahan.
Geneva (Gene) was a graduate of Kingman High School, 15 miles from the farm. She did sewing, cleaned houses, and worked at a local café to help pay for room and board during high school. After graduation, she went to Wichita, Kansas and completed cosmetology school and started a career at a local beauty salon while working other part-time jobs and babysitting.
She was a devout Catholic and while in Missouri attended Our Lady of Fatima and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, a loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. Besides raising a large family, she enjoyed dancing and socializing with family, friends and neighbors, and traveling. She was active in senior citizen functions and drove her car well into her 90's.
She met and married William Fischer in Wichita, Kansas and had one daughter Linda, and helped raised two step daughters Sharon and Mary.They later moved to Salina Kansas where she divorced.
On July 8, 1962, in Salina Kansas she married a widower Ivan L. Steyer Sr. who had six children under the age 14. Together they had one son, Keith. On May 12, 1966 they moved to Florissant, Missouri, where her husband worked for 20 years for McDonald Douglas. She resided in the same house until her health forced her to move into assisted-living in 2023.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband Ivan L. Steyer Sr., her stepson Ivan L. Steyer Jr. and many relatives.
Surviving is a daughter Linda Boswell and son Keith (Dawn) Steyer and step children Tom (Patty) Steyer, Gary (Vicky) Steyer, Laurel (Vic) Vickers, Mark (Sheryl) Steyer, Kevin (Agnes) Steyer, 18 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers appreciate donations to any local children’s charity.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, located at 11101 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, MO 63074. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, followed by a Committal Service at 12:45 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
