

James Harvey Alexander, 93, of Frontenac, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Dixon Alexander; sister, Ruth “Tee Dee” Stubbs; and brother, William G. Alexander. Jim is survived by his children, James D. Alexander (Debbie Croxton), Sarah (Bill) Lindsey, Anita (Clint) Reeves, and Mary (John) Simonsen; grandchildren, Christine (Dave) Walgamott, Rebecca (Jack) Rhoads, Patricia (Bryan) Reynolds, Erin (David) Truax, Fletcher Reeves, Andrew Simonsen, David Simonsen, and Jenny Simonsen; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Sally Higgenbotham. Dearest father-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and a good friend of many.
Jim served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Co. C in the 123rd infantry regiment, 33rd infantry division in Japan in the US Army during WWII. As a platoon leader, he was responsible for the general welfare of 45 men. Jim and his brother, Bill, were the former owners of Alexander Funeral Home, where they served families with great dignity and continued the innovative ideas of their fathers who held the funeral business before them. Jim had a tremendous work ethic and worked extremely hard to take care of the grieving families in St. Louis as well as being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather for his own family.
Jim was 50 year member of Tuscan Lodge A.F. & A.M. and many other Masonic organizations, including Moolah Shriners International and a 32 Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis. Jim was also a member of the Veiled Prophet Society of St. Louis and the Rotary Club in University City.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann, MO 63074. Visitation is from noon until 1. Jim will be laid to rest beside his family at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
