

Bill Alexander "Coach", a dedicated educator and coach passed away peacefully, Friday, June 13 with his family beside him. Bill is leaving behind a legacy service, inspiration, and commitment to generations of students in the Neelyville public school system. Born and raised in southeast Missouri, Bill graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1970. He pursued his passion for teaching by attending Southeast Missouri State University , where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Physical Education. HIs lifelong commitment to education led him to a distinguished career as a junior and senior high school science teacher and coach. Serving the Neelyville community for over 25 years.
Throughout his career, Bill was known for his deep knowledge and unwavering support for his students both inside and outside the classroom. A a coach he inspired teamwork, discipline, hard work, and resilience. As a teacher, he sparked curiosity and a love for science in countless young minds. Bill's impact extended beyond the walls of the school. He was a mentor and a friend to many. His dedication to education and youth will be appreciated and remembered by all that knew him.
Bill was a baseball fan, he loved the outdoors and traveling to Canada to fish with his son, grandsons and good friends. He loved the smell of the Current River and appreciated the beauty of that river.
He leaves behind his wife, Myra Alexander of 25 years; His son Shawn (Christy); Step children Justin Peters of Poplar Bluff, Mo Leigh Williams (Tony) of Imboden, AR; Grandchildren Jordan, Dylan and Marissa; step grandchildren Claire Alexandra, Tripp, Carly and Cassie; and sister Sherri (Rusty) Divine. Bill was a devoted husband and father to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all of them as he was a strong, loving and significant influence for them.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
