Joyce A. Parnell

Joyce A. Parnell was born July 14, 1953, to James McKinley Bolton Sr. and Mary Ellen (Jackson) Bolton. Both parents and four siblings (Kenneth Bolton, Vernita Randle, Josephine Randle, James Bolton Jr.) preceded her in death.

Joyce received her education in the Tate County School System graduating from Independence High School in December 1970.

Joyce was united in holy matrimony to Johnny Parnell on March 22, 1974 in El Paso, TX. To this union two children were born.

Joyce worked various manufacturing jobs starting with the Gusdorf Corporation in October 1978 and culminating with the Universal Sewing Supply in June 2024.

Joyce accepted Christ at an early age in Mississippi and was a faithful member of Olivet M.B. Church for over 20+ years, attending faithfully until her health failed.

Joyce transitioned on May 27, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 51 years Johnny Parnell, two sons, Rodney Parnell (Tammie) and Kristopher Parnell of Saint Louis, MO. One sister Frances Bolton, of Chicago, Il and one brother, Danny Bolton of Coldwater, MS. One brother-in-law, Brady Davidson of Detroit, MI. Four grandchildren, Brandon (BJ) Parnell, Brianna (Brie) Patterson, Aja Parnell, Kendrick (Ken) Parnell, and one great grandchild, Bryce Parnell along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Joyce will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, 12200 New Halls Ferry Road, Florissant, MO 63033, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM.
