6 years later and I just found out this existed. Loved reading all the memories people shared. I still think about you everyday and I hope to become the man you were. Love you Dad.

Enf of "The fishin trip" story,please see part 1 first, ,,,soo,we finally make it back to,,I believe it was,,Eagles Landing,,when i see it nowadays,i remember parking there w Mark, and Tony. The boat,,fulla cans dam near a foot deep,,hooked some nice ones,,they got away,tree almost falls on us,,big party,lend gas,,run oughta gas,make it back,,.!!Finally,drive home,,at old bridge qe stop,on Bridgton side,taka leak,,now its rainin. Truck wont restart. Damm,, battery dead,,.The end. God,bless ya Mark, lotta good times,,see ya again!! "One day,we"ll all be in heavin,,one day"


I was showing pictures to my mom today from one of our vacations in Destin Fl.  These made me think of this funny story that I would like to share. 
We were on the beach and the waves were pretty high that day.  We were  watching people body surf. That's where you watch the surf come in, then at the right time you dive in with a little board and ride the wave out. Looked fun. Well Mark decided to try this, so we went and bought him a board and headed back to the beach. He waited for just the right moment then jumped in ready to ride the wave, however he miscalculated the tide.  He was way to cool to let anyone know what happened so he kicked his feet and paddled his arms like he was swimming.  Funny thing was, he wasn't going anywhere. I was watching the whole thing from the beach and had pointed him out to some friends we met down there. About that time he decided to stand up, and when he did the water only came to right above his ankles.   That's what you call a belly flop!  I bet it hurt. I was laughing so hard I was crying. He thought he could fool us all and no one would ever know.  He was always so good at making everyone laugh.

Apparently Tony Buschmann's entry with the story of a crawdad called big red and a fish called Frank haven't made it to the posting yet.  I anxiously await his rendition of these 2 stories and so many more I know he has. I thought I would add a photo for Tony as I am not sure if he has access to it.

I mentioned to Tony that from all the pictures at the service it always seemed Mark had 2 fish and he had 1 but Tony said......."Ya, but mine was always bigger"......not sure this picture proves that. LOL.

His name was Mark Wallis
He was a handsome man
And from what I could tell
He had many a fan.
From the tiniest of babies
To women of old
And when you met Mark
You'd find a heart of gold.
His talents were many
His angers but few
His gentle kind spirit
This we all knew.
He'd come to your rescue
He'd make everything right
to fix the walk-in freezer
whether by day or late at night.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life
Like raising his kids
Or loving his wife.
Never a raised voice or an unkind word
It wasn't his way
It never was heard.
The question asked by many
The answer still unknown
"Why did your life have to end?"
"Why did you have to go?"
Many have cried

But the day that you died
You were heaven sent.

His name was Mark Wallis.

Haven't seen you in a while, but you were always the nicest guy! I will never forget the many Christmas' at Aunt Shirley's when we were little or running into you in the warehouse at JB, always having a big smile & some funny comment...you will definitely be missed by many, Heaven is a little brighter having you..

My uncle mark , I always looked up to him growing up ,he was so funny,and made what ever we were doing exciting ,he would take the simple things and make them memories that will last a life time,we had a lot of fun at the old cabin (hunting )not getting anything but more memories, he became more grandpa ever year but maybe not as good of deer hunter .mark trained me to fix vending machines my first job,I had to call him to help a lot he always had an answer , mark ,my dad and grandpa can fix any thing even if it was rigged its still fixed I can say i was trained by a legend even if its only in my eyes.mark and me spent a lot of time together and as we got older more time apart,I knew I could always call and he would be there now I realize that was true for eveyone.I will always remember him .

I only knew Mark for a short time. But it felt like I knew him for a lifetime. He was just that kind of person. From the moment I met him and his family, they made me and my children feel so welcome and a part of the family. He was an awesome person all around. He has touched so many lives and loved by so many. Mark you will never be forgotten. You will always have a place in our hearts. Love, Kelly, Kane, Emma & Chaz Mitchell

I just thought I could share a little list of the things I remember from Mark....
- Mom got a hair cut one time and she freaked a little because it was so short. Mark, being the loving, crazy husband that he was, decided that he would shave his head to make her feel better. He didn't have to be bald to know that he had a weird, Cramer shaped head so I am sure you can imagine how goofy he looked...but the thought was sweet.
- Mark always put bird food out on the back porch for his 'pet birds'. These are actually wild birds, not pets. But they knew Mark fed them so they come in and wait daily until they get their meals. We would make fun of Mark all of the time for being the 'bird man'. 
- No matter who it was for, his wife, kids, mother, etc...Mark always signed his birthday or holiday cards with his full name as though we wouldn't know who he was. 
- Mark's dogs loved him so much. They would start barking for him as soon as he turned onto the street...you cannot see all the way up the street so I guess they would hear him. 
- Mark was a sucker for the grandkids. He was always in trouble for giving in when they asked for candy or snacks. He would feel guilty saying no so he would sneak them. And when he would get caught, he would get that goofy, guilty look on his face and just say, "What?!" like he had been forced and tortured into complying with their requests. 
Mark is going to be missed forever. Luckily he left us with so many memories to share with the younger grandbabies. Every day is a constant struggle to grasp the fact that such an irreplaceable person has left us. Just like everyone keeps saying, there must have been work in Heaven that needed to be done. Mark was by far the most loving, caring, giving, hard working person I knew...not to mention the goofiest. He never expected anything in return and never wanted anything for himself. He was always doing things for everyone around him, not because he felt he had to, it was because that is what he loved and that is what made him happy. 
We love you Mark and thenk you so much for everything you did for us. You will be missed more than you can imagine!

FROM STEP-DAUGHTERS AND GRANDKIDS

We turned Mark's life upside-down when we moved in. Before then, it was just us four girls. We were very incomplete. We didn't know it at the time, but when we moved in with Mark and the boys, we were a whole new family. Of course, it took quite a while for all of us to adjust. Mark, dealing with a house full of moody girls… and us having to remind him MANY times to stop streaking across the house in his whitey-tighties. 

Mark immediately took us in, treating us like his daughters. He would go to the moon and back for us. He turned mom into a better person. We were all happier with who we were with Mark and the boys in our lives.  No matter what we needed, Mark was always there for us with open arms. 

Everyone has their stories and we wanted to share a couple of ours.

Mark didn't have the best memory. We always had to call him to make sure he knew a birthday or holiday was coming up so he wouldn't forget to get mom a gift. We all took turns with the reminder call around holidays or birthdays. Mark surprised mom with early Valentine's Day flowers one year. Mom thought it was strange that Mark got her something early. Usually, he was late if anything. They didn't look like normal Valentine's Day flowers. After piecing things together, mom realized that Mark had worked at a funeral home earlier that day and brought her some flowers that he conveniently ran across at the funeral home. Mark was so proud that he almost got away with it. 

One time, we convinced Mark to stick one of those suction-cup popper balls to his forehead. Of course, Mark didn't think twice and, as a result, was left with a perfectly round hickey in the middle of his forehead for days. He would do just about anything to get a laugh out of us. 

Having him as a Paw Paw to our kids was a blessing. He always had them laughing. He spent almost 12 hours straight building their swing set just because they were too excited to wait. He also decided one day that the kids needed a sandbox so he went and got the parts and went to work. 

We asked Gavin and Haley what their favorite times with Paw Paw were. Haley said, with a giggle, “When Paw Paw dances silly ballerina dances with me.” Haley always made him sit and watch her dance. Gavin says his favorite times is when Paw Paw would let him ride the lawnmower to help cut the grass and when they would work with tools and Paw Paw would teach him how to fix things around the house. He also started them on saying, “I'll put a lump on you!” That little phrase will continue to be used forever. 

We came in to Mark's life and turned it upside-down. We grew to love the new life and family we had. Now, with Mark gone, our lives are upside-down all over again. But we will always remember the people he made us into and will share his stories with our kids forever. Even with Mark gone, we will keep our family together. Although these times may seem unbearable, we have gained so much from Mark…two goofy, crazy brothers, Jack and Luke, that have so much of their dad in them and memories that will stay with us forever. 

We hope that Mark knew how much he meant to us. He was an irreplaceable father and grandfather. 

Mark, we love you very much and will miss you more than words can describe.

Hi. My name is Big Bird. Yes. Mark gave me this dreaded nickname over 25 years ago and it has stuck. Everytime I hear "Big Bird", I think of Mark! I have executives from my work calling me "Bird". How did that happen? Mark, I will miss your smile, your love for your family and anyone you came in contact with. Your kindness and joy will be missed in this world. My heart goes out to Barb and family. May he live in the hearts of all of us.

They say only the good die young, well that must be true as Mark most certainly was one of the good guys.  Jack and Luke couldn't have asked for more in a dad.  Mark loved them so much. He was a selfless, funny, hard-working, amazing father and person who was adored by anyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him during his so very short and tragic abruptly ended life.  He was dedicated to his mom, family and enjoyed by so many friends. He will be missed more than words could ever express.  My deepest empathy to all who knew him.

Mark, thank you for coming into my sisters life and making it complete!  I will always cherish all the good times we had.  We always enjoyed our float trips... We never knew what was gonna happen next.  My favorite though will always be us singing karaoke "Radar Love" in my living room.  You'll always be a rockstar in my book.  Love and miss you brother!!!

My Dear Cousin Mark was here one minute and gone the next. So unexpected, Only God has the answers we all so urgently seek. Mark was a fun loving, laid back guy with almost always a smile on his face. As an adult our lives were so busy we did not spend much time together. Wow, all I know is the time I spent talking on the phone with him and one Christmas at his mothers house, we had so much fun that year and he was such a treasure. His life touched so many that the building almost did not hold all the people that came to show their respect. His wife Barb, Her beautiful girls, Mark's two boys and and his Dear sweet mother and brother William  are just a part of the family that is devastated. You just never think it will happen to you. I am rambling on and on. I just want everyone to know what a treasure the world has lost...Mark was one of a kind. He will be missed dearly.

Oh how I am missing you. I feel so broken, the pain is unbearable, there's a huge hole in my heart.  My body just hurts  with grief. Everywhere I look, everything I do you're here.  I know you're  with us. We say "Thats what Mark would've done or thats what he did or remember when Mark did that and so on. " People tell me it will get easier and I know it will but you will always be in my every thought and always in my heart at all times.    You taught me how to love and be a better person.  I thank you for that.  You not only repaired my damaged, broken family, but you made it complete and then added two great sons to my life and then the family grew, my girls , your sons and then grand babies. We became such a close family instantly like it was supposed to be that way, and it was.  I prayed to god to find you for years and god delivered.  I know he must've had a great reason to take you so soon, which I wont understand till we meet again, but I'm sure you were needed.  The things you taught me by the way you lived and the love and compassion you gave to not only your family but everyone will inspire me forever.  I am the luckiest woman in the world to have had you even for a short time.  Our memories will help carry us on through life till we are together again.  I will weep for a long time but I will also laugh as we talk about all your silly things you used to do.  My dear, I love you and will love you forever and ever.
