My grandma was such a strong person.  Throughout my life she was often there to babysit, share memories, and provide a pick-me-up when I was down.  Though my grandmother had many difficulties, she never complained and always reflected on her luck of having her friends and family.

I remember playing dominoes with her when I was younger, and she always let me win even if I cheated.  Our memories provided a lot of laughs and inside jokes that we discussed when I was blessed with the opportunity to stay with her for several months.  We helped to take care of each other when she wasn't feeling the best or my schedule was hectic with work and school.  My grandma always stayed awake for me to talk about my day and make sure I had what I was needed.  She always said how lucky she was to have me stay with her, but I was the lucky one.  I was given the chance to grow closer to my grandma on a level different from that which I'd known as a child.

We had our disagreements, but we never let it get between us.  I know that she is with my grandpa now, and she is no longer tired.  I will always remember sitting with her, watching the hummingbirds and bunnies outside the window, joking about television shows, and sharing stories that helped me learn more about my family and myself.  I know that my grandma would not want me to be sad, but I miss her so much.

I love you grandma!

Wanda was a wonderful person. You could not help but smile when you were around her. Her wit and sense of humor brought many smiles to my life over the years.  I will truly miss her.

I had the pleasure to meet Wanda many years ago due to our friendship with Mike and Sandy.  What I remember most about Wanda was her quick wit.  I'm sure many times the leader at Weight Watchers wanted to kick us out from laughing and the comments from Wanda and her friends.  I'm glad I got the chance to know and be around Wanda, I will alway cherish those moments. 

Geisel family, I know what it's like to lose a parent, I've lost both of mine.  There is always a whole in your heart for them but know that they aren't far for they will always be in your heart.  Know that the Lister family is always here for you for anything you need.

Wanda's sense of humor and kindness brought joy to everyone who knew her.  She will be missed and remembered with love.

Not many people are blessed with the wonderful mother-in-law I had.   We didn't always see eye-to-eye.  In fact, prior to my marriage to Mike, things were a bit rocky between her and I.  Over time, we worked through our differences and truly became friends.   She was always more than happy to help us in any way she could and always with a smile on her face.   When I was pregnant with our daughter Lindsay I had morning sickness that was really terrible.   Wanda would cook my favorite foods trying to make me feel better and hoping to help with the morning sickness.   She babysat our children when they were small and they have grown up to be wonderful people partly due to her love and insight.   

She also had quite the sense of humor.   She would always tell us that if Sonny wasn't already dead she would kill him for dying first.  I know she was quite lonely after he passed but did her best to fill her time with crafts, family and friends.  

As Wanda grew older she would always tell us that she hated having to depend on others but it was our honor.   I hated watching her endure the endless treatments and tests.   She was always such a vibrant person and it kept her from doing the things she loved but she never faltered or complained about pain.

I loved her very much and will truly miss her conversation and spunk but most of all, her love!   I know that she is in heaven continuing to watch over all of us!

The first 30 or so years of my life, I characterized my mom as strong, abrupt, stubborn, and rigid.  As I aged, I gradually became familiar with a different person; the loving, caring, nurturing and giving soul.  No longer trying to maintain the appearance of discipline and control over her children, I experienced the emotions, the sensitivity, the fears and insecurities that she dealt with daily.  I spent years alongside her, sharing doctors appointments, painful procedures, blood draws, and repeated poor prognosis.  Never once did she admit to pain.  In fact, she denied ever being in pain.  Never once did she ask why me... nay, she repeatedly described the "wonderful" life she had experienced and shared memories that she was fond of.  She often described how lucky she was to have so many good friends and a close family.  She was always asking me how I felt.  Telling me I needed to get more rest... When daily tasks got to be a read burden, simple things like changing her sheets or washing a few dishes,,, she would not let me do it.... Saying it was how she got her exercise.  She truly enjoyed the time with her friends and family.  In the later years, she didn't have the strength or endurance for long visits, but she would gladly take a day to recover for a  half hour visit from a friend.  I'm sure I'll have more entries, but I am so happy to have been blessed with the opportunity that few sons have.  To have become so close and shared so many very personal thoughts, concerns.  As you told me, that tap on the shoulder will likely be you!
