William Edward Barclay

With heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of William E. "Bill" Barclay on Saturday, December 27th at the age of 87. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Bernice (Helfrich) Barclay, his wife, Geraldine (Pratt) Barclay, daughter-in-law Martha (Marty) Barclay and grandson Christopher Jeck.

Survived by his children, Scott Barclay, Betty Jeck, Jeff (Selina) Ferguson, and Leisa (Frank) Carpenter. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, Zachary (Rebecca) Ferguson, Rachael Jeck, Jacob (Kristy) Ferguson, Taylor Barclay, Joshua Carpenter, Samantha Barclay, Abbey Carpenter, Anthony Hirsh, Lilly Ferguson and six great-grandchildren Kendall, Khalia, Creedence, Aubrey, Lincoln and Keegan. Additionally, he was the beloved brother to Barbra Daniel and Bonnie Mertis.

Known best by his family and friends as "38" a number representing his birth year. He enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Green Bay Packers and always looked forward to the weekly outing with his "Wednesday crew". Bill lived life with humor, kindness and had tremendous love for people. He always wore a smile and never met a stranger. Phone calls and visits ended with his favorite phrase "keep smiling". Although he will be greatly missed, he will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
