I had lost touch with Bill over the years, and only learned of his passing tonight. I was looking for him to pay him thanks and attempt to return a favor he extended to me over a decade ago. Bill not only gave me my first professional break, but he taught me much of what I know about sales. It wasn't like it just rubbed off on me, Bill took the time to coach me. We became fast friends and I never tired of hearing about his wife and two kids. 

I remember a time when our commission checks were delayed right before thanksgiving. I had a young family and was more than inconvenienced by the delay as I had to go grocery shopping etc.  Bill reached into his wallet, handed me a couple hundred bucks and told me to pay him back when they got the checks to us.  I have always remained touched by that act of kindness. That is the kind of guy Bill was. He'd teach you everything you needed to know about sales, and save thanksgiving in his free time. 

My deepest condolences to the Godwin family.

Thanks for changing the course of my life, Bill. I'll always remember the kindness.
