Annie Marie Crossen, age 98, of St. Clair Shores, passed away on August 1, 2025. She was born in Sint Jansteen, Netherlands to parents Joseph and Christina Annaert. Beloved wife to the late Deacon Thomas A. Crossen. Loving mother to T. Christopher (Deborah) Crossen and John M. (Susi) Crossen. Cherished grandmother to Ana Maria Crossen, Theodore Joseph Crossen and Kaitlyn Nicole (Derek Flaugher) Crossen. Great-Grandmother to Kenneth M. Ormsby and Dawson Flaugher.
Annie Crossen was a caring and loyal woman. She was a kind and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She grew up in Detroit, went to St. Bernard’s High School and Marygrove College and lived across the street on Bewick from Tommy Crossen and his family. During WWII his sisters suggested that she write to him, she did, and when he returned, they quickly married.
Tom and Ann bought the home that she remained in until now, in St. Clair Shores in 1957 with help from her parents. It had a small kitchen. She liked that because the home in Detroit had a big kitchen and it was a lot to clean.
She and Tom were active in their Church, St. Germaine, and were founding members of the parish. Tom eventually developed the catechism program for Parish. Ann was a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, Catechism teacher, member of the Worship Commission, performed Wake Services, and was a teacher at St. Germain and in Clintondale schools. She went back to school to receive her master’s degree, receiving hers the same year as her son, Chris.
Ann was an active widow, busy with church and family she traveled to Russia with Chris and Deb to adopt their children Ana Maria and Theo. She made several other international trips as well.
Her second son, John, is married to Susi and lives in Bloomington, IL. The marriage ceremony was performed by his father, Deacon Tom, as was the marriage of Chris and Deb several years earlier. They are the proud parents of Kaitlyn, a caring health professional, and she is married to Derek, they have a one-year-old son, Dawson.
Ann had many long-time friends, and everyone was always amazed at how active she remained. She and Tom went up north for years with friends Dottie and Harry, and Ann and Owen, at Ann’s cottage in Walloon. They did many things as a group.
Later Ann made trips up north and stayed with Chris and Deb in Charlevoix, she really did like it up north.
Ann was active to the end. She had a brief illness and passed quickly without pain and suffering, something she desired.
She will be missed.
