Blake Robert Hanrahan, age 67, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2025. Born in Detroit and raised in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, to loving parents, Thomas and Lorraine Hanrahan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lianne (Lassaline) Hanrahan, his daughters, Blair (Joe) Fisher and Dana Tarp, his son Steven (Ali) Hanrahan, his daughter-in-law, Kat Hanrahan, his mother, Lorraine Hanrahan, and his brother, Thomas (Robin) Hanrahan. Blake was preceded in death by his son, Robert (Kat) Hanrahan, father, Thomas Hanrahan and sister, Leah Hanrahan.
From a young age, Blake had a profound love for hockey. He made his mark as a defenseman for the Lake Shore High School team, playing an integral role in their victorious 1974 State Championship win at the Mayor’s State High School Hockey Tournament. His dedication to the sport continued through college, where he once again played as a steadfast defenseman for Hillsdale College.
Blake was a dedicated Chiropractor for 40 years. He was beloved by his patients and for many of them, he was not just a doctor but a trusted friend and confidante. He had a gift for listening and made each person feel truly heard and cared for. He leaves behind a legacy of profound kindness and commitment to the community’s well-being.
Beyond his professional life, Blake’s greatest joy and proudest achievement in life was raising his family. All his free time was spent coaching his kids in sports and traveling to watch his kids participate in sports. He cherished the quality family time spent on yearly road trips to Ft. Myers’s Beach, Florida. He delighted in waking up early, grabbing a coffee and walking to the beach to catch the dolphins swimming and feeding near the shore. He was always on a quest to find the island’s best fried grouper sandwich. As a devoted grandfather, he was captivated by his grandchildren, reveling in their growth and discovery of their individual passions and always ready to offer his wisdom and encouragement. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Liam, Lacey, Savannah, Edison, Grant, Charlie and Alastair.
Our family is respecting the wishes of Blake and will not be holding any memorial service. He just wanted to be remembered by family, friends and acquaintances as the person he was before cancer took him too soon.
