Catherine Bedard was born on August 2, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Koutsourakis; sister, Joanne (Nova) Catalano, and her brother James (Jody) Rakis. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John (Jack) Bedard; her three children and their spouses: daughter Diana (William) Lince, son John (Sandra) Bedard, son James (Kimberly) Bedard; seven grandchildren: Alexander (Emily) Lince, Lauren Bedard, Ali Lince, Brittany (Austin) Teed, Andrew (fiancé, Rachel) Bedard, Bradley Bedard and Jonathan (fiancé Kilee) Bedard; plus great-grandchild Raymond Lince, with two more on the way.
Catherine and Jack would snowbird in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she enjoyed socializing with their friends over a glass of white zinfandel. Catherine was an avid golfer and member at both Moravian Hills Country Club and Atlantis Golf Club for many years, and always loved a reason to wear a cute outfit. Her love of golf and a girl’s day out were passed down to her grandchildren.
Through-out her life she never forgot her Greek Orthodox heritage, making sure her descendants learned the family receipts of Greek Spaghetti, Lemon-Rice Soup, and Kourabiedes cookies. She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family and a special place in heart for her nieces Nina Gambino and Mary Bianchi, and their families. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Catherine can be made to the Alzheimer Association. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
