I, and my three older sibs, grew up right next door to Dave and his family.   We were always outside playing baseball or riding bikes.  He could catch a ball in his mitt and then tuck the mitt under his arm to retrieve the ball out of it and throw it in one fluid motion that was so fast it was hard to follow!    He was a formidable baseball player and you wanted him on your team!  Dave was such a nice guy, and always in a cheerful mood.  I'm not surprised his students have such fond memories of him.  My condolences to his brothers Mike and Bill, sister Kathy, and his extended family.

Remember Dave from St. Gertrude’s. Always thought he was a kind person. I also remember Dolores. She was such a special person.  Life well lived and loved.

Just found out about Dave's passing from his brother Mike. Mike and I were Good Friends on Visnaw Street  and any time I visited Mike, Dave would pop in and say hi and make us laugh. He was always Cool and Funny.

He played that Cheech and Chong album with "Dave's not here" and sadly Now he is not.

Dave was a wonderful colleague and friend whose loss will be mourned by many. There are too many memories to share regarding our teaching and coaching time together at St. Florian, however the time spent fishing on Lake St. Clair , including ice fishing are among the best. Especially when we would bring the perch we caught back to the school and fry them up in the home economics class room. 
I am very sorry for the Stachnik family loss to include  his partner of 23 years and extended family.

Rip brother (walleye man)will  miss you.

So sorry to hear that Dave passed away. He was a very kind man and good to our son Grant  (who also has a disability) at the LSHS breakfast  he came to. We are grateful we got to see him then and at our Lakeshore High School 50th class reunion. We have fond memories of him from our school days. Mr. Stachnik was our science teacher at St. Florian.  He really connected with his students and made the  subject matter engaging and relatable.  He influenced  my choices for further education and career.  I am fortunate to have been one of his students.  Condolences to family and friends.  May you take comfort in knowing the positive impact he had.

Mr. Stachnik, so many memories of you as a teacher and as my softball coach. I will never forget you telling me to slide into 3rd base during a game and me stopping dead in my tracks telling you 'I don't know how!' You shook your head and laughed. It was always nice running into you at festivals after graduation! You were there for me when I needed help in an uncomfortable situation in high school, and I will never forget that! May you rest in peace and coach a great team in heaven! My prayers are with your family and all who loved you during this sad time.

Mr. Stachnik was my chemistry teacher and I have a lot of memories of his class and perhaps would credit him for the love of physical sciences I still have and his lessons helped me throughout college and medical school.  He will truly be missed but not forgotten.

Courtney will forever have you in her heart not for just fishing but because you were so wonderful with ALL the kids!

May the Angels welcome David with a smile and a hug, and lead him to the fishing hole where he may enjoy time with his Dad.  May the Stachnik family and Bonnie with her family receive PEACE and recall all of the special gifts that David brought into their life.

Not a day will go by that I will not think of you or miss you buddy. You are the best thing that God ever gave me and these kids I could not ask for a better Papa or partner than you..until we meet again.  rest easy babe.

Dave will be missed dearly by our family. Will miss his laughter. He played with all our children. He was their Uncle and they to spend time with him. He was our brother in law. A big part of our family. God bless him and the family.
