Edward William Fortier, age 87, passed away on September 24, 2023. He was born on August 24, 1936 in Orwell, Vermont to his late parents Laurence and Florence Fortier. Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothea. He is survived by his loving son, Philip (Kelly); dear grandchildren: Caitlyn, Patrick; and several nieces and nephews. Edward was a proud United States Naval Veteran serving on the USS Wadleigh. He enjoyed traveling with Dorothea to the USS Wadleigh reunions throughout the country. They were very delighted to host a reunion in New Mexico during their time living there. Edward and Dorothea retired to Albuquerque, New Mexico and absolutely fell in love with the Southwest. He loved baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed collecting toy soldiers. Edward was very generous to his family especially his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Funeral Mass, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. (Instate 9:00 a.m.) at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 21201 E 13 Mile Rd., St. Clair Shores.
