Eric is survived by Diane Hamilton, Norville Robinson, Theodoris Robinson, Athlyn (John) Flagg, Debra Robinson, Nadine (Donovan) Kennedy, Harriet (Frank) Lewis, Myra (Maurice) Phillips, Zena (David) Robinson.
Eric Douglas Robinson Sr. left this world on January 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy etched in love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Born on July 17, 1950, Eric was a man whose life journey was a testament to the power of hard work, family values, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
At the age of 18, Eric embarked on his journey of service to his country, joining the Army, where he learned invaluable lessons in discipline, camaraderie, and sacrifice. After his honorable service, he transitioned to civilian life, where he embarked on a remarkable career at Chrysler, where his dedication and work ethic were unmatched. As a foreman and floor-man, he poured his heart and soul into his work, never missing a day, working seven days a week for years.
Eric was more than just a dedicated worker; he was a loving husband to his beloved wife Brenda Lucille Robinson. Their union, forged right after high school, was a beacon of love and strength, producing three beautiful children: Donyale Lana Robinson, Eric Douglas Robinson Jr., and Cortney Jermaine Robinson. Brenda’s passing in 2005 left Eric heartbroken, yet he carried her legacy forward, guiding and leading his children, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren with love, wisdom, and grace.
Beyond his professional and familial endeavors, Eric was a man of many talents and passions. His prowess with numbers, his skill at playing cards, pool, and his near-automatic accuracy from the free-throw line were but a few of his remarkable abilities. He was a fierce competitor, whether on the basketball court, the horseshoe pit, or in the meticulous care of his flawless landscaping, which garnered recognition from the city and local newspapers.
Eric’s love for life was infectious. He danced with abandon, his joy radiating from every step. In his youth, he excelled on the varsity wrestling team and in track, earning accolades and first place finishes. His love for competition and sportsmanship shaped his character, instilling in him a resilience that defined his every endeavor.
Born to Annie Mae and Theodore Robinson, Eric was one of thirteen children. A testament to the strength and resilience of his familiar bonds, his upbringing laid the foundation for his unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his unyielding work ethic.
