Grady Lee Gulledge was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi on December 23, 1930 to the late Sammie and Truevanna Gulledge. He departed this life early Monday morning, July 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and five sisters.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a former member of Leland Baptist Church until his health started to fail him.
He was a diehard Detroit Tigers Fan. In earlier years he would catch the bus to most of the home games. His enthusiasm for the team made anyone love the game and want to attend. He would take his grandchildren to the game and it was a requirement that they come home with a team helmet and a bag of peanuts. If he couldn’t go to the game, he was watching it on the tv or listening to it on the radio. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and riding his bike (aka as his Cadillac among his senior friends at Royal Oak Manor Apartments) everywhere he possibly could.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Odessa Hymon Gulledge in March 1952. To this union six children were born.
Grady leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Bettye Myatt, Catherine, Karl and Linda Gulledge, Nina Sample and Bruce Gulledge, twelve grandchildren, Yolanda, Sean, Derek, Ernest, Jr, Daryl, Charisa, Karl Jr, Richard, Briana, Tiana, Karlita and Rakita; twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, two sisters, Gracie (Clarence) Hughes and Louise (Jimmie) Reynolds and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
