James Francis Thayer

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sharon Thayer (Crawford).

Jim was born on September 11, 1932 in Detroit, MI to Frank and Helen Thayer. He graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1950 after which he joined the US Air Force in 1951 and married his high school sweetheart, Sharon, in June of 1952. Jim spent his career as a skilled tradesman and enjoyed spending time in his workshop creating things for his home and for his children and grandchildren. Jim and Sharon were avid travelers and spent their retirement years touring the US in their RV. Jim loved the Detroit Tigers, fishing, and spending time with his family. A faithful member of Lake Shore Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, Jim was involved in many aspects of church life.

Jim is survived by his children, Laurel Scott (James), Steven (Melissa), Holly Cory (Mark), and Scott (Lisa), 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 11am at Lake Shore Presbyterian Church, 27801 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Shore Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
