Lucille was deeply devoted to Christ, and her faith was the foundation of her life. It guided her values and was reflected in the way she loved others so openly and generously. She cherished her large extended family and held a special place in her heart for her many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Lucille was married for 57 years to her beloved husband, John A Dacey, who preceded her in death (2018). John and Lucille met in Detroit, MI and established their home in St. Clair Shores, MI to grow and raise their family. Lucille, at age 44 graduated from college with an ADN. She lived her passion for serving others for 20 years at St Joseph Hospital as an Oncology RN. John and Lucille built a life rooted in love, community, and family. After the death of her husband, Lucille moved to Lakewood Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to be closer to her son's and their families. She quickly became anchored in fellowship with the Lakewood Ministry where she made numerous friends through her cooking and sharing her love for life and Jesus. Lucille freely spoke "God placed me here, exactly in this house and community"! She so enjoyed the many events and visitors she had during her past 4 years with her Lakewood family.
Lucille was a devoted mother to her four children: Denise, Karen, John (Carrie) and Kevin (Melissa). She was a proud and loving grandmother, known affectionately as “Mimi,” to Adam (Carly) Forhan, Kyle (Brieanna)Reneau, Danielle (Shane) McCain, Jessica (Luke) Latimer, Cody Heslin, Avarey Dacey, Kylee Utley, Nakeisha Ballard, Johnathon Dacey-Ballard, and Michael Dacey-Ballard. Her heart held deep 'Mimi Love' for Cameron and Emma Behnke and Elhadj Diablo, as well. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren Lukas, Sky, Victoria, Brady, Bennett, Jett, and Mack, who brought her immense joy, "So Precious". Lucille was the dear sister to Patricia Ann Thornsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents William Earl and Malisie Payne, her sister Earleen Cooper, and brothers William "Bill" Payne, and James Payne.
Lucille loved to travel the world and embraced every place she visited with curiosity and enthusiasm. She had a remarkable gift for conversation and could speak with anyone she met, leaving a lasting impression through her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in others.
Lucille will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of family, her adventurous spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with a scripture service at 7:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Lucille will lie in-state on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, beginning at 10:30 am, until time of mass at 11:00 am, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church 21100 Madison Street, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Lucille will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
