

Karen Joan Cazabon 87 of St. Clair Shores, MI, rounded the windward mark and set the spinnaker. An amazing woman and force of nature, has passed on to her next adventure, the next leg of her journey. Karen started her journey on this Earth in South Bend, Indiana in 1938, born to Carl and Kathryn Bergen. The family soon moved to Detroit where Karen attended Dominican High School. Karen met and married Dennis C. Cazabon.
Karen, mother of 7, grandmother of 6, great-grandmother of one, returned to school to obtain an Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Bachelor of Science in Science and Humanities from Wayne State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Detroit-Mercy. She was Bio-medical Lab Manager, a Computer Systems Consultant & Business Owner, sailor extraordinaire, chef capable of coming up with fantastic meals for 4 or 40 at the last minute, Mother and mentor, taught her children to be accountable and to think critically. She showed them how to cook, to clean, to drive a car, to trim sails and drive the damn boat. She let them explore themselves and encouraged introspection. She lived a life of compassion and love. She was a life long painter, active in the local art scene and served as President of the Mount Clemens Art Association. She was at home both painting and installing hospital management software systems for many large hospital organizations including the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, John's Hopkins and Trinity. She touched countless lives during her path on this earth. She forged pathways for women at CSYC and was a staunch supporter and activist for women's rights at home, at the office or in the clubhouse.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Kathryn, hers sons Paul and Robert and her daughter Catherine Myrick. She is survived by her sons Michael (Lauren) Cazabon, Patrick Cazabon and daughters Carol Johnson and Lynn Cazabon as well as Granddaughters Mary Cazabon, Theresa Lugo and great grandson, Sirus; Grandsons Zachary and Dylan Myrick and Nick and Alex Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
