I met Mike a few years back when he was working in Royal Oak. He was a joy to work with, always up beat and generally positive. He was one of the really good guys who was a joy to be around. RIP Mike.

My condolences go out to all of you, the Kenney family. I just learned of his death today. Michael was a great man and one of the best friends I could have ever asked for. He was so supportive, loving and loyal. His advice, thoughtful and direct! Sometimes unsolicited, but that was just Michael. Had several opportunities to see him perform and he was amazing! He was proud of his musical talent, but never more proud of anything as much as his precious son Ian. My prayers are with all of you, wishing you peace.

Mike, I will miss you -- You were a great altar server at Guardian Angel Church!! You were always so pleasant to talk to. I'm so sorry God had another plan for you now but I pray that you will be in paradise with your Dad and your grandparents and all family members who passed through the Gate of Heaven, Amen.

Mike's Family/Friends, 

So sorry for Mike's sudden/premature passing.  Thinking about the last we seen him, we ran into him & Ian outside Scrambler.  He was wearing an "AC/DC T" and grinning ear to ear to have quality time with Ian.  May he rest in peace and may it include playing with the great rock legends that have gone prior.  Looking back to our youth, he was always on the baseline or bench to help out our ladies team.  Remember first seeing his vinyl, it was the largest collection I had seen outside of a record store!  May it comfort all to know that he is never farther away than one of his much loved classics. His presence continues in these tunes and in what he would say was the best thing he ever did...Ian!

Ian and Mike's family,
I met Mike through work. He was one of my custostomer's. We quickly became more than just work acquaintances. We became friends. What a friend he was. We shared our family experiences  especially  stories about our only sons. I retired three years ago. But kept in touch with Mike. I last spoke to him about two months ago.  I was shocked of the news that Mike had passed. I am in PA helping my 95 yr old mom so will not get to say goodbye to my dear friend.  I will keep him and all of you in my prayers. I will miss him.

Cousin Mike,
You were a great man and an outstanding Father.  I will always remember the fun times that was had at your backyard pool parties, family holiday gatherings, Tiger's games, and watching you play bass guitar with the band.  Your dedication to your family and your generosity to all will be greatly missed.  Thank you for all of the great memories and conversations over the years. I will always think of you when I hear a good Rock and Roll song.  I'll miss you very much.

Growing up, Mike was my BFF"s big brother.  He loved music so much and always was playing the latest album he bought.   I remember walking into the Kenney house on Stockwell and Mike blaring "Man on the Silver Mountain" by Rainbow.  This was the first time I'd heard it (loudly of course).  Throughout the years everytime I heard this song it brought me back to Stockwell and Mike.  After hearing the news of his sudden passing, my heart was breaking for him and his family.  That evening I was driving home thinking of this song while flipping radio stations and "Man on the Silver Mountain" came on.  Just got the feeling he's rocking up in heaven with the Big Guy and his Dad (shaking his head of course!!).  Mike, you will always be The Man on the Silver Mountain!!!  The song may have ended, but the melody lingers on.

I'm very sad that my uncle has passed away. His pool parties were very fun and he made the best ribs! Going to see movies with him were the best and I'll miss him so much.

    It's so sad to see you go. I'll miss everything about you! Your perfectly made Ribs, fun pool/Fourth of July parties. I'll miss you teasing me and me telling you to stop, and you never would, I thought that was fun! You showed up to ALL my Birthday parties, Christmas and Thanksgiving parties. I'll surely miss you and you'll forever be in my heart!! Love you❤

I have so many 4th of July memories at Uncle Mike's house, swimming all day and setting of fire works at night. I had so many fun birthday parties with Ian and Uncle Mike at Chuck e Cheese and I remember sliding on his pool when it turned to ice. He always made me laugh and there was never a dull moment with him. Singing on the karaoke machine and playing the air guitar was one of his specialties. I will miss him so much and I hope he's having a great time with Poppy in Heaven.

My husband and I only met your Father one time. It was when he opened his heart and home to a bunch of kids (and adults)grieving the loss of a friend. He and Julie were amazing to the kids and us adults. I wish we had gotten to know him and Julie better.

My dearest Michael,
You are my best friend, and the love of my life.  As you would like to say we are "soul mates" and your absence leaves a large hole in my heart.  We had almost 11 years together, and I think we did well making a family with our 2 boys.  I will be forever grateful for our numerous family vacations---we loved each other but wanted our boys with us.  You took my son John into your heart, and was there for him in good times and bad.  He could not have had a better step-father. Thank you for sharing Ian with me, he is a wonderful young man, and has made my life better being part of it.  The world is a very dark place for me without you----I sleep with your shirts and pillow just to try and keep you close.  All the plans we made for the years to come----travel, spoiling our grandchildren, and of course lots of concerts.  You are the love of my life, and I will never be the same without you----but I hang on to the fact that we will be together again.

Where to I start Mike...my big brother - you left too soon!   All the times you let me hang out with you and your friends in the rafters of the garage (where it was a thousand degrees), to the time you and Patrick M. held on to Geoff Brown when he was teasing me on the way to G.A., so I could "beat him up".  You took the blame in Sr. Karen's office!!  I  remember the time you let me use your new silver car with the crank sun roof...Jennifer Miller and I cruised Gratiot on a Saturday night.  We can home to you sitting on the porch with your guitar, singing "Jenny Jenny, who can I turn to 8-6-7-5-3-0-9?"  All your band practices in the basement with Mark Henning on the drums.  "Don't touch the drums" you used to tell me.  Late nights in the basement playing Intellivision.  Winner winner chicken dinner! I always won!! Going to the movies with you and Jeff on Christmas Eve one year to see Rocky Horror Picture Show.  I used to help with your paper route, and your customers felt bad for me so they'd double tip me and you'd get so mad - "How much in tips did you get?"! Your pool parties were the best -  Ribs, chicken, swimming, fireworks.  Oh Mike!  I love you so much!  xoxo

I was in a band with Mike for several years.His talent was evident from the start.His love of music obvious.He will be missed by many I'm sure. As heaven gains yet, another great guitar player!
