Nancy Amelia Gault

Nancy Hayes Gault, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was pre-deceased by her husband of more than 60 years, Raymond W. Gault, and her brother, Allan Hayes, and is survived by children Henry, Kathleen, Cynthia, and Barbara, daughter-in-law Susan, and granddaughter Sophia.

Nancy was born and raised in Highland Park Michigan, and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1943. She received her degree from Michigan State College in East Lansing in 1947, where she belonged to the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. During her working life, she served as an AFDC case manager, a Kindergarten teacher, and a stay-at-home parent, and sold antiques at markets and at a cooperative store, all in the Detroit area.

She had a life-long love of swimming, and enjoyed listening to blues and jazz music, as well as playing piano for friends and family, following politics, and spending time with her children and grand-daughter. She will be dearly missed for her sweet and kind disposition, her generous and tolerant spirit, her admirable strength, and her sense of humor.

Visiting and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 10:30 (visiting), 11:00 (service), with a lunch to follow, at Renaissance Unity Church, 11200 E. Eleven Mile Road, Warren MI. 586-353-2300. Any donations may be directed to the organization “Room to Read.”
