PEDDICORD, THOMAS E., age 79, passed away May 6, 2016. He is survived by his wife Judy A. Rudnik Peddicord of 54 years, daughter Mary Ann (Doug) Damm; son, Thomas (Lori) Peddicord; grandsons Nicholas Damm, Brian Damm, Thomas Peddicord III, Anthony Peddicord and David Peddicord; and honorary granddaughter, Dominique Crachiola.
Tom was born in a farm house on October 24, 1936, near Mt. Airy, Maryland to Charles and Frances Peddicord. He was raised on a farm and was the second youngest of eight children. Tom served in the U.S. Army as a Transportation Specialist and earned several metals, including a sharp shooter metal. After being honorably discharged from the Army he got a job driving a cement truck. He delivered cement in the Washington, D.C. area, including to the Pentagon. After moving to Michigan with his wife, Judy, he held several jobs until he landed a job driving a truck for Chrysler. After working at Chrysler for 30 years he retired.
Tom enjoyed his retirement and had many hobbies including: gardening, fishing, making fishing lures, listening to blue grass music, catching and releasing squirrels, feeding the birds, sharing jokes with everyone, walking at the mall and enjoying his grandsons sporting events. Tom hardly ever missed his grandson’s swim meets, soccer games or baseball games. Tom also enjoyed entertaining the kids at Judy’s day care, all the kids loved Papa Tom and his jokes and teasing.
Everyone could always count on Tom. He would drive the grandkids to school, work or an event. It didn’t matter if it was 6:00 a.m. or 10:00 p.m. if you needed a ride Tom would never say no, especially to his grandsons.
Christmas gifts were always interesting too. Always something practical and much appreciated, whether it was a case of Kleenex, a case of paper towel or a retractable snow scraper. Judy could always count on getting coffee, equal and a new pair of Nike shoes. Practical, but much appreciated seemed to be his gift giving practice.
Whether you call him Tom, Dad, Papa or Papa Tom my guess is that you will miss him.
Memorial Service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
Please leave a condolence message or share a memory.
