William was born on June 29th, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Stephen and Mary Laus. Bill grew up on the East Side of Detroit and then St. Clair Shores. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1967 where he enjoyed writing.
After graduation, Bill attended Macomb Community College. He then worked as a handyman and enjoyed working on cars. He also enjoyed sports and trivia. For a time, he worked as a plasterer and in a machine shop. Bill had a well-known sense of humor.
He was a long-time member of St. Isaac Jogues Parish. He was devoted to his love of God, his family, and social get-togethers.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Sandy.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas (Sandy), brother, Michael (Liz), sister Catherine (Edmund), brother, Martin (Donna), and brother, Patrick. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, some cousins, and a great niece.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Eagles Aerie 3619, 23631 Greater Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.
The family requests that any donations (canned goods, cereal, or money) in Bill's memory be made to any food bank or church pantry.
