Brian wrote several original songs, but he was proudest of "Mississippi."  Years ago, a friend of my daughter's who owns a recording studio offered the band a free session during which Brian and I recorded "Mississippi."  After we'd all left, Nick was editing the material when a professional musician friend of his walked into the studio.  " I know that song!" he said. "It's a great song!"  "You can't know it," said Nick.  "The guy who wrote it just walked out of here."  "OK then," said the friend, "I want to buy it."  But Brian refused to sell -- he was worried that if he did, he wouldn't ever get to play the song again himself.
During Covid lockdown, as a single person living alone, Brian was allowed one visitor who wasn't family.  We made use of that rule to get together often to develop our repertoire and make recordings.  We ended up with a repertoire of close to 100 songs and I can't even begin to count the number of recordings.  This lakeside video is one of them.  I cherish it dearly.

One of Noteworthy's crowning moments -- being selected to perform as one of just five acts in the Westmount Park 2022 Concert Series.  The concert was great and we were having a blast, but I think we were tempting fate -- our set-list comprised just one too many songs about rain, and half-way through the second set, down it came.  We were so proud of our audience who moved under the trees for shelter but stuck with us, until the rain became great slashing sheets accompanied by crashing thunder.  We've never struck our equipment so fast!

Noteworthy at Porchfest NDG 2024.  We played Porchfest for several years -- it was Brian's favourite gig -- but this particular performance was special.  We were playing on a porch kitty-corner to NDG Park and a large, very appreciative crowd came over to listen.  It's a bitter-sweet memory for me now, since it was the second-to-last time that Brian was well enough to play in public.  Our very last performance together was a year later in June 2025, in Montreal West, when an unseasonal bitter wind had us in fleeces and scarves and froze Brian's and Phil's fingers.  Maybe it was a fitting end to Noteworthy.

So many photos and videos to choose from.  Such wonderful memories!   This was "Drift Away" at Scotyz, Brian's local, where we sang for our supper.   So sad that Brian drifted away from us all . . .

Brian was a part of our extended family for a long time.

Sending condolences, prayers and love to his Family.  Brian was my friend for years but I did not know that he had passed over. I will always remember him and his love for photography and nature. I loved his pictures. He is in God's now. He is taking care of him now. He will always be in my thoughts and heart.

He played music at all my parties. We all sang and he made every event special

Brian and I dated on and off for quite a while and he was such a kind and loving person.  We remained close friends.   I will miss you and will always have a special place in my heart for you Brian
