It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom Elizabeth (Liz) Noella Laporte Ayres, on January 16, 2021, at the wonderful age of 91. She joins her cherished husband, Harold, who passed away 25 years ago and has been waiting for her to continue their journey together.
They met while both working in the food department at Eatons. Dads’ career at Eatons was much longer than moms’ as she left to become our stay-at-home mom. This was not to be the end of her professional career as she “delighted” her children in taking jobs to be closer to them. One job was at the CCHS cafeteria, which meant no fun during food fights for them! The other was at the local dep. Lawsons, where she kept a close eye on all kids’ purchases so their allowances would not be wasted on “junk”.
She provided a loving home in St. Lambert; first on Birch and then on Pine, overflowing with treasured memories and many good friends. In the years after dads passing, she became involved with the Seniors group where she enjoyed many trips, learned line-dancing and made new friends.
She faced several health challenges in her later years, but always with pride and determination. She amazed us on more than one occasion, proving what a strong woman she was.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her children; Daniel, Carol and Sue (James) and her loving grandson Lucas, who was the sparkle of her eyes. Lucas cherished their times spent on the balcony watching the cars and the special macaroni dinners she made just for him.
We will miss her dearly but will take comfort in knowing she is with dad watching over us and smiling.
