Henderson was born on the beautiful island of Barbados through the love of Violet Edwardine Hope and Kenneth Seymour Hope. He was the third child following his two older brothers Rudolph and Colvin Hope. The family was later blessed with another boy, Cecil Hope.
As a child Henderson attended “Rudder” Primary school, for which he got in trouble calling it that, and remembered well the days in which his mother could not provide him any lunch. On such days, his Mom would make her way to the school and apply grease fat to his lips to make him appear well fed. With such humble beginnings, “Hopee” never forgot his roots or where he came from. Before leaving the island at 19 years old, he made sure to leave his mark by winning the Mr. teenage Barbados Bodybuilding competition! An accomplishment for which he was always very proud of.
Luckily at this time, his mother was able to find him a job and “Doc” vowed to himself to become a provider. A provider he became, and this he was for the remainder of his life. Never failing to give what he could.
Henderson worked first as a first class petty officer and carpenter for Norwegian Freight Lines. There he sailed to such places as: Japan, South Africa, Norway and England to name a few. At sea he developed into a man, and there he decided to study refrigeration through correspondence. During this time, Henderson sent home every dollar he made, thus allowing his parents to build and later move into a“wall” house.
The home remains in the family to this day.
Following his brother to Canada, “Doc” landed in Montreal and became a licensed commercial refrigeration mechanic for several companies: Mechanical Contractors, ICM, and Stork Refrigeration.
“Doc” married his life partner Maria Hope on June 5th, 1965 in Montreal, Canada and they bore two children Terry and Adrian. Maria worked for several companies: Prudential Insurance, Bank of Montreal, AARC, and the city of New York.
Mr. Hope retired in 2007 and Maria in 2020.
Surviving Mr. Henderson Hope are his two children and wife. His grandchildren are: Cheyenne Wesley, Ryan Dawson, Adrianna Dawson, and Timothy Frank. “Doc” leaves behind one great grandchild: Giovanni William-Fédé.
His surviving relatives are:
Nephews Patrice Hope and Jules Hope. Niece Manon Hope and sister-in-law Lucie Hope.
Mr. Hope also leaves behind his greatest friend Robert Taylor.
Henderson was predeceased by both of his parents: Violet and Kenneth Hope. Brothers Rudolph, Colvin, and Cecil Hope.
