Born on February 3, 1935 she was the only child of Gordon Cannon and Grace Sheedy Cannon. She was the widow of Kenneth Whittaker (died November 6, 1971). She leaves to mourn her daughter Donna, her son Gordon (Sophie Riendeau), and her grandchildren Carl and Sarah Whittaker. She is also mourned by her many cousins and friends.
Pat was an enthusiastic traveller and loved all the opportunities she had through her life to visit the places she did. She never regretted one trip that she made through her lifetime. In the earlier years, her trips were often to Europe especially Ireland where she and Donna (her boon companion) would rent a car and travel around the countryside exploring ruins, the natural beauty, and meeting people. In her late 50s she took up Irish ceili dancing and enjoyed the exercise and more importantly the friends she made in the wider Montreal Irish community. Her later travels involved her and Donna taking cruises and it was a special thrill to have Gordon, Sophie, Carl, and Sarah, join them on a number of family cruises. The fun and joy these trips brought to us are memories that we will cherish forever.
A memorial service will be held a later date, to be announced, when social gatherings are safe to resume. In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider a donation in her name to the McGill University Health Centre Foundation “Fix Broken Hearts” in support of the Cardiology Department where Mom always received exemplary care and support.
